Welcome!

Welcome to the Early Social Concepts Lab, a psychology laboratory at Vassar College directed by Dr. Rebecca Peretz-Lange.

We study how children intuitively make sense of social identity and inequality — for example, how they explain why social inequalities exist, how they mentally organize people into social groups, and how they reason about racial and gender identities. Our work advances basic research in developmental, cognitive, and social psychology. We also collaborate with social justice education organizations and teacher training institutes to inform their anti-prejudice initiatives. We’re glad you’re here!
